CPU's

CPU’s, or Central Processing Units, are generally the larger computer units which process information, store programs and send information to the computer monitor.  The inner workers of the CPU contain many different materials which cannot be disposed of in the general rubbish waste stream.  CPU’s should be properly destroyed and or recycled by a registered company with expertise in this process.

Before a CPU is rendered as a waste item, all files and important information should be saved onto a storage device or another CPU.  It is also recommended to have the hard drive with the CPU erased so that information cannot be extracted from the disposed equipment.
